Do poker and glamour really mix?

As we commented recently, the playboy poker site is set to close imminently amid suggestions that demand was not as high as expected and carrying costs have impacted upon the profitability of the business. This has prompted many to question whether poker and glamour are actually as closely connected as many had first thought or whether those who play online poker and off-line poker are just interested in the game?

There is no doubt that poker TV programmes seem to be able to mix glamour and poker in an atmosphere which is both comfortable and not distracting for the players. However, whether such glamour businesses as playboy poker concentrate too much on the glamour side of the game or whether poker players actually want “a spit and sawdust” online site is the big question.

The bottom line is that if an online, or an off-line, poker operation gives players exactly what they want when they want it, people will come back time and time again. Many players are not interested in the peripheral games and options aside from poker and just want to click on, start playing and grab the jackpots!

It will be interesting to see if any other companies try to fill the void which has been left by the demise of playboy poker.
