Utah Lawmakers Making Internet Gambling Cafes Illegal

No More Gambling!! Lawmakers in the state of Utah must have become tired of their law enforcement agencies busting what they thought were illegal gambling activities and coming up with no arrests. They have now attempted to make the gambling laws in the state more clear.
Earlier this week Salt Lake City authorities raided an Internet cafe that was allowing people to play games of chance on computers. Customers would come in, but a prepaid card and place it in the computer. They would then be allowed to play different games with credits from the card.
This “fringe” betting was happening at many locations in the state, and the law was not clear on whether or not it was legal. That will not be a problem anymore after lawmakers began working late last week to eliminate the grey area.
A Bill has been proposed that includes fringe gambling as illegal, and, if passed, it would stop business owners that are currently operating under loopholes in the current law. The Bill is receiving much support and should have no problem being passed.
The way the owners have exploited the law is to offer phone or Internet card. In exchange for buying the cards, the customers receive credits. By offering the phone cards, the business owners are not promoting the gambling, but instead the purchases themselves.
